Sunderland 9/2 to sign Pavlyuchenko

The 30-year-old is unhappy at a lack of first team opportunities

Sky Bet are quoting Sunderland at odds of 9/2 to sign Tottenham striker Roman Pavlyuchenko after it was revealed that the Russian had a training ground bust-up with Spurs assistant Kevin Bond.

The 30-year-old is unhappy at a lack of first team opportunities at White Hart Lane and the recent altercation could pave the way for a move out of the club before the deadline.

Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala and Queens Park Rangers lead Sky Bet’s market at odds of 4/1, but with Sunderland seemingly failing in their attempt to lure Kevin Davies to Wearside they could yet turn their attentions to Pavlyuchenko.

QPR are understood to be close to completing the signing of former Liverpool forward Djibril Cisse from Lazio, so another striker may not be on Mark Hughes’s radar. Spartak Moscow, having recently had a reported £6.5 million bid rejected, are 12/1.

Pavlyuchenko moved to North London from Sporting Moscow in 2008 for a fee of £13.8 million and has since scored 42 goals in 114 appearances for the Lilywhites.
