Three share FA Cup favouritism

Everton defied the odds to beat Sunderland on Wearside

Tottenham, Liverpool and Chelsea all head BetVictor’s FA Cup winner betting market, with each side available to back at odds of 5/2 ahead of the semi-finals.

Tottenham beat Bolton 3-1 on Tuesday evening to set up an all-London semi-final at Wembley, while Everton defeated Sunderland 2-0 at the Stadium of Light and will face Merseyside neighbours Liverpool in the capital.

Goals from Ryan Nelsen, Gareth Bale and Louis Saha set up Spurs’ first win in five against Premier League opposition. Harry Redknapp’s side will now take on Chelsea in the semi-finals, with each side at odds of 10/11 to qualify for the finals.

“I am looking forward to it, it will be a great weekend,” said Redknapp of the semi-finals weekend. “I wouldn't like to pick a winner from either tie, Liverpool and Everton are both capable of winning the Cup.

“It is an even game, you couldn't pick a winner between us and Chelsea.”

Everton defied the odds to beat Sunderland on Wearside, and will need to prove the bookmakers wrong once again if they are to remain on course to mark David Moyes’ 10-year anniversary at the club with a trophy. The Toffees are the 7/2 outsiders for the competition and 11/8, with Bet365, to see off Liverpool in the semis.

“Liverpool will be favourites. They have beaten us twice this year, haven't they?” said the Everton manager after Tuesday’s win.

“The thing about Everton is they have got a history of being in finals, semi-finals, winning things.

“I have not been in as many as I would like to be, but I actually think there are mitigating circumstances for that in a way.”
