Toffees to prolong Spurs' sticky patch

Everton have not been beaten in eight games since

In-form Everton host out-of-sorts Tottenham Hotspur at Goodison Park on Saturday with the Toffees seeking a fourth consecutive home win without conceding.

Darron Gibson is out injured for the hosts but Victor Anichebe could return after a spell on the sidelines. Steven Pienaar is ineligible under the terms of his loan agreement with Spurs.

Harry Redknapp will be without Michael Dawson, Aaron Lennon, Jermaine Jenas and Tom Huddlestone for the trip to Merseyside but Louis Saha is available for selection to play against his former club. Scott Parker is also available following suspension.

Everton have not been beaten in eight games since the 2-0 defeat to Spurs at White Hart Lane two months ago and the Toffees have conceded just two goals in their last six games at Goodison Park.

In contrast, Spurs have won just two of their last seven Premier League games and, as a result, their title hopes have faded dramatically. Their season objectives have been redefined in recent weeks and their priority is now to finish in the top three in order to claim the last of the automatic Champions League qualification spots ahead of their North-London rivals Arsenal. They have allowed their 10 point lead over the Gunners to drop to just four and they have also conceded an alarming eight goals in the last two games.
