Top clubs line-up Rodgers for managerial role

Rodgers is now priced at 3/1 to takeover at Anfield

Brendan Rodgers has moved to the head of the next manager betting markets for both Tottenham and Liverpool as the Swansea boss’s stock continues to rise.

With Harry Redknapp expected to take over as England boss in the summer and Kenny Dalglish’s position at Liverpool becoming increasingly tenuous, Rodgers is now priced at 3/1 to takeover at Anfield and 6/1 to be the next Spurs boss. Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins, however, is hopeful that the 39-year-old will remain at the club for a little longer yet.

“Brendan’s done really well coming into the Premier League and the way football is there could be three, four, five jobs coming up in the summer and you never know,” said Jenkins.

“We fully also appreciate some of these clubs are going to be looking for managers and perhaps – hopefully not now, but in the future – Brendan may think the time will be right to move to a club in the Champions League.

“But I think that’s a while off yet – let’s concentrate on what he does for us over the next few years.”

Swansea have 39 points from their 31 games played so far this season, and despite pre-season predictions of relegation the Premier League debutants are now as short as 6/4 with bookmaker Sky Bet to finish in the top half this season.
