Tottenham v West Brom: Open contest at the Lane

When these sides met in late November, Spurs ran out comfortable 1-3 winners

Roy Hodgson takes his team to face one of the form teams in the country, as West Brom look to upset the apple cart and get a result against Harry Redknapp’s Spurs.

The key to Tottenham’s success has been the all-star performances of winger Gareth Bale. Apart from his goals and assists, his general play has helped his side become one of the most attractive sides to watch in the league. Along with Bale, Spurs have an in-form forward in Emmanuel Adebayor who has found a new lease of life since moving to London from Manchester City. He has found the net nine times already, meaning he is in the top ten in the league in this particular category.

West Brom, on the other hand, are coming into the game off a bitter loss to Everton on Sunday when a near-certain draw was taken away from them by a late Victor Anichebe goal for the Toffees.
The Baggies can’t seem to find their goal-scoring boots at the Hawthorns but it is a different story away from home, as they have scored 12 goals which has led them to four away successes already as they enter the second half of the campaign.

When these sides met in late November, Spurs ran out comfortable 1-3 winners, having been behind to a Youssouf Mulumbu opener. On that day, Adebayor bagged himself a brace to ensure the Londoners of the three points.

I can see this being a thoroughly entertaining game, with plenty of goal threats on show for both sides. As a result, 19/20 for both teams to score from William Hill looks to be a bet of tremendous value. Over 3.5 goals looks to have similar appeal at 11/8 with many companies.
Tottenham should be too strong for their opponents, and a repeat result from their initial encounter, 3-1, could be on the cards for the home side at 11/1 with Blue Square.
