United Set to Confirm Young Signing

The winger will become Sir Alex Ferguson’s second signing of the summer

Ashley Young is on the verge of completing a £17 million move from Aston Villa to Manchester United.

The 25-year-old is understood to have undergone a medical at Old Trafford and is ready to put pen to paper on a five-year contract.

Young scored 30 goals in 157 appearances for Aston Villa since joining the club for a fee in the region of £10 million from Watford in January 2007.

The winger will become Sir Alex Ferguson’s second signing of the summer as he follows in the footsteps of England Under-21 defender Phil Jones who joined the club for £16.5 million. Atletico Madrid ‘keeper David de Gea is also expected to join the club following the conclusion of the European Under-21 Championships this weekend.

Manchester United are the 7/4 Premier League betting favourites to retain their title this coming season and 9/1 to go one further in the Champions League by lifting the trophy.
