Villans to earn consecutive draws

the visitors have scored just ten goals on their travels in the entire campaign

Aston Villa host Stoke City at Villa Park on Monday hoping to extend their six-point lead over the Premier League's bottom three.

Villa have won just one of their last nine but will take confidence from earning a credible draw at Anfield on Saturday against Liverpool. They will be without defensive trio Carlos Cuellar, Richard Dunne and Ciaran Clark, while Charles N'zogbia is also a doubt. Long-term absentee Darren Bent remains out with an ankle injury.

The visitors must do without the services of Senegalese midfielder Salif Diao but Andy Wilkinson faces a late fitness test. In any case, both managers may decide to rotate their squads having only had one day of rest since their previous outings.

Only Wigan Athletic have scored fewer league goals than these two sides this season and therefore a goal fest seems unlikely. Alex McLeish's side average just over one goal per game while the visitors have scored just ten goals on their travels in the entire campaign, fewer than any other side in the league. BetVictor offer attractive odds of 7/10 for fewer than 2.5 goals to be scored during the game.

A more lucrative offer along similar lines comes from Stan James with odds of 9/4 for under 1.5 goals to be scored. The more adventurous punters may even opt to back a goalless draw given the poor offensive records of both sides. A 0-0 correct score is priced at 17/2 with Stan James but the same price is available for no goalscorer in the first goalscorer market – if the only goals scored are own goals, no goalscorer bets are paid out.

The Potters came from behind against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday to record their first win in five games. However, they are still seeking a first away win in seven and, with both of these sides relatively confident of their own Premiership survival, a draw would appear to please all parties. Coral's odds of 12/5 for the spoils to be shared are very appealing indeed. A 1-1 correct score can be backed at 11/2 with most bookmakers.

Recommended Bets:

Back a Draw @ 12/5 with Coral

Back Under 2.5 Goals @ 7/10 with BetVictor
