Wigan v Man Utd Betting Odds

The big Bulgarian has scored five goals in eight games against Wigan and is 4/1 to score first.

Roberto Martinez's job to save Wigan Athletic from relegation is a big one and he will not be looking too favourably at the fixture list that sees them play four of the top five in the next five games. First up is Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United.

Fergie's men played out a dour draw away to Marseille on Wednesday night and will be looking to improve their away form in order to gather momentum for their march towards the Premier League title.

The Red Devils have been excellent at home but they have failed to maintain their high standards on the road this season, even by their managers own admission. Wigan lost last week to Bolton in the FA Cup courtesy of an Ivan Klasnic strike. This may prove to be a blessing in disguise for the Latics as they fight valiantly to avoid the drop.

Wigan have Emmerson Boyce and Callum McManaman doubtful whilst Man United have a whole host of big names out missing including; Anderson, Rio Ferdinand, Michael Owen, Park Ji-Sung and Antonio Valencia whilst Ryan Giggs, Fabio and Rafael are all doubtful.

Wigan's Man U Mission

This fixture has been a miserable one for Wigan in the past as they have lost to Man United all five times that they have played at the DW scoring just three and conceding 14 in return. But they will take heart from Wolves' victory at Molineaux a couple of weeks ago as United are more vulnerable on the road.

The reverse of this fixture at Old Trafford finished 2-0 to The Red Devils and the bookies place them as strong favourites to win at 5/11. Wigan have drawn six of their 14 home games this season and Man United have drawn eight of their 12 away games. Betting odds of 3/1 on Wigan getting a draw on Saturday look a more than fair price if you fancy the Latics to get something from the game.

Wayne Rooney Feet Striker

Despite scoring a bag load of goals last season with his head, just one of Rooney's measly six goals this season has been a header. He is the bookmakers' favourite to open the scoring at 3/1 but better odds might be on his strike partner and top scorer Dimitar Berbatov. The big Bulgarian has scored five goals in eight games against Wigan and is 4/1 to score first.

For Wigan, there are not many places to look to for goals. Top scorer Hugo Rodallega is 8/1 to notch first.

Wigan have conceded the most home goals in the Premier League but Man United have scored a modest 18 away from home which means punters could be tempted into backing under 2.5 goals at Evens.

The DW Stadium will bring back happy memories for many members of the Man United squad who clinched the Premier League trophy there a couple of seasons back. Wigan will be trying their hardest to spoil the party this time around as they scrap for survival.
