Wigan out to 6/1 for relegation

Wigan move five points clear of the relegation zone

Back-to-back wins over Manchester United then Arsenal have seen Wigan move five points clear of the relegation zone and out to odds of 6/1 for the drop with bookmaker Ladbrokes.
Prior to their 1-0 victory over the league leaders The Latics were generally priced at odds of 1/2 to be playing Championship football next season. Those odds were lengthened to 11/8 prior to their trip to The Emirates, with odds of 6/1 now on offer. Despite the bookies being confident of Wigan’s chances of survival manager Roberto Martinez is keen to keep his players focused on the task at hand.
“We need the same intensity, knowing they are big finals to achieve our aim,” said the Spaniard.
“We must make sure we recover for a huge game against Fulham. Fulham are a different proposition now and we have to be at our best.”
Ladbrokes offer odds of 10/3 that Wigan pick up another three points at Craven Cottage this weekend, with the home side priced at 4/6 and 12/5 available on the draw.
Wigan’s fellow relegation battlers were consequently all cut for the drop. Blackburn are now in to 1/6 in the relegation betting market, QPR are 8/11 while Bolton are fancied to keep their heads above the parapet but can be backed at 11/10 for relegation.
