Youthful Gunners provide betting value

Having secured top spot in Champions League Group F with their 2-1 win over Borussia Dortmund, Arsene Wenger now has the luxury of resting a number of key players for this trip to Greece.

The Arsenal manager has named a young squad for the game against Olympiakos with the likes of Robin van Persie, Theo Walcott, Alex Song, Per Mertesacker and Mikel Arteta all being given time to recuperate.

Yossi Benayoun, Johan Djourou, Andrey Arshavin, Tomas Rosicky and Thomas Vermaelen are, however, included in the squad bringing some experience to an otherwise inexperienced squad.

Because of the multiple changes expected from The Gunners and the current makeup of the group – Olympiakos must win in order to keep qualification hopes alive – the home side are made the strong betting favourites. Betfred offer odds of 20/21 on the Greek side picking up all three points.

However, seven days ago a similar Arsenal side were extremely unfortunate to lose out to Manchester City and on another night could have defeated the Premier League leaders.
